Asvid, the Third Jotun
Asvid appeared very suddenly early on a November Sunday morning, and through unknown means. It appeared as a colossal obsidian monolith hovering above the northeastern sector of Asgard 01, from which location it proceeded to use its Absolute Territory Field to exert its own influence over the ODIN System, and was only halted with the tireless efforts of Dr. Langley. In combat, several arms broke off through the shell on its sides, revealing bony protrusions, one with a large injector for some material and the other a sizable cannon. Its core was displayed prominently on the face of the monolith facing the center of the city.
Asvid was a test in patience and a lesson in what AT Fields are capable of. Primarily, Asvid’s main forms of defense and offense were in hijacking nearby automated systems for conventional military forces for use against the Aesir. In addition, the field attempted, but ultimately failed, to hijack the systems used to control the Aesir themselves, but still disrupted them to have the point of a noticeable detriment to the Aesir’s combat maneuverability, as well as cutting off all contact outside of its field.
It was ultimately defeated when Justice Walker/Loki closed to neutralize its field completely, after which Kayla Firstwright/Zapp, though heavily damaged, persevered in the face of its brutal injection arm and whittled away at its exposed core. Gordon Wall/Unit 08 eventually gave up on shooting and closed to hold the monolith back for the final blow from Kayla’s spear. In its final death throes, Asvid self-destructed in a brilliant display, jaunting a large cross in the midst of the city and destroying much of the area around and heavily damaging the Aesir, though failing to do significant enough damage to put them out of commission.
